About the 5Rhythms:

Created by the American artist Gabrielle Roth (1941-2012) and practised by tens of thousands worldwide, 5Rhythms® is a philosophy, perspective, performance art and a dynamic movement practise rooted in the principle that if you put the psyche in motion it will heal itself. Movement is both the medicine and the metaphor, reaching across all languages, cultures and age groups to transform suffering into art, art into awareness, and awareness into action. Wherever the 5Rhythms are practised, a community is born to dance, to sweat, to change, to support, and to provide a safe space for each of us to shatter the ego’s hold and awaken the juicy, unpredictable, fascinating, edge-walking, rock star part of ourselves that yearns to be free.

Créée par Gabrielle Roth à la fin des années 60, la Danse des 5Rythmes® propose une exploration libre du mouvement, et de soi par le mouvement. Chaque rythme (fluide, staccato, chaos, lyrique et quiétude) ouvre une porte d'où émergent des trésors oubliés, des chagrins, des rires, une réconciliation profonde, des peurs enfouies, une colère longtemps réprimée, la joie jaillissante du coeur ouvert, un moment de communion inespéré ... Cette danse offre un espace protégé, elle peut tout accueillir, tout mettre en mouvement et tout transformer. Nous pouvons alors connaître ce moment de grâce où la danse nous traverse et nous relie à l'essence même de la vie.

La où les 5Rythmes sont pratiqués, une communauté nait pour danser, transpirer, changer, soutenir et créer un espace sécurisé et sans jugement, où il est possible de se re-connaître et d’explorer, sentir et ressentir l’ici et le maintenant, casser l’emprise de l’ego et renouveler notre motricité et nos comportements.
