In a recent Tidal Wave class, I witnessed one of those rare, special moments. In Lyrical, I played Queen’s ‘Somebody to Love’ and a room of dancers spontaneously burst into the most expressive singing. It was something like a karaoke night mixed with the energy of a 4 year old’s party…
Why are these moments so rare?
We become self-conscious? Think too much? Fear what others will think? Work too hard? Take life too seriously, carrying responsibility like a heavy weight?
How do we capture these precious moments, unencumbered by judgement? Around a campfire with friends, singing old pop songs at the top of my voice, I am blissfully unconcerned of what others will think or say. Lost in the joy of the moment, the love of pure creative experience.
In this day workshop we’ll use the 5Rhythms to reveal our lightest & brightest self. We’ll follow our loves, take risks and embrace the unexpected with a sense of curiosity. We’ll bear witness to our shadows, experiencing a fullness of joy that doesn’t wallpaper over the cracks. We’ll dance, create and collaborate.

David Juriansz is a musician, recording artist, performer and embodied dancer with a passion for teaching the 5Rhythms. His unique style connects the world of sound and movement to the dance of everyday life. Dancing his weekly Melbourne ‘’Tidal Wave’ is a wondrous experience – a catalytic, high-energy journey.
David’s teaching captivates newcomers whilst also providing a deep, healing space for long-time conscious dancers. With a big heart & a generous dose of humour, he will lead you gently to your growing edge. He regularly incorporates live music into his workshops and has produced two albums of Wave music, Reveal and Forest.

This workshop offers an allocation of tickets at different price points i.e. ‘Tiers‘. The number of tickets remaining for each tier will display in the checkout below.
We have a broad range of financial capacity in our community. Please reflect on what you are able to pay and choose accordingly.
If you need the lowest price to attend i.e. perhaps you are living day by day financially, please purchase Tier 1. Payment plans are available on request.
If you can afford a bit more, i.e. you can cover your living expenses and other unexpected costs, please choose from Tier 2 or 3.
One additional tier ‘pay it forward’ invites members of our dance community to join us in helping those who need financial support to participate.

This workshop has been offered as an alternate event following the recent cancellation of Kate Shela’s workshop. We need a minimum of 12 people to book for this workshop to go ahead.
