In a world that races forward at breakneck speed, finding moments to simply "BE" is a rare and precious gift in our daily lives. Here, we're presented with a physical practice that profoundly connects us to our body's intimate experiences, fostering curiosity and a judgment-free mindset. The dynamic meditation facilitated by the 5Rhythms (Flowing-Staccato-Chaos-Lyrical-Stillness) serves as a gateway to embodying our essence in the present movement.
What captivates me about this meditative approach is its inherent artistry; it ignites the creative spark within each individual, evoking the poetic spirit that resides in us all. It's about taking our human experiences and transmuting them into a dance of expression—a powerful act of connection and reconciliation with the depths that lie beneath the surface. It beckons us to live with mindful awareness and embrace our entirety.
How does a 5Rhythms dance class look like?
Accompanied by very inspiring and inspired music (and sometimes silence) these 5Rhythms classes and gatherings guide participants through the 5 fundamental elements of the 5Rhythms practice. The sessions offer light facilitation using simple poetic language that serves to ignite each dancer's personal freedom and unique expression.
Who is the facilitator?
Elise-Anne dances to remember the beautiful creative-intuitive-compassionate Self that we are all born to be AND to inhabit the wild-instinctive-connected body that we all have been gifted. Dance has transformed and healed her human journey since her first meeting with Gabrielle Roth and the 5Rhythms practice in 2007. Grateful for all that she has received from this dancing life, Elise-Anne is truly passionate to create sacred and safe spaces for others to experience the 'medicine of movement.'
Elise-Anne is a contemporary dancer, a dance-researcher, a somatic educator and a movement-mindfulness facilitator. In her daily life, she is dedicated to therapeutic dance accompaniment for individuals, children, and couples. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in somatic dance/movement therapy at the Dance Department of UQAM and training in Somatic Experiencing, a psycho-corporeal therapeutic approach.
