Meaghan Williams is a lifelong student of the poetry of movement, and a lyrical dancer and artist by nature. She studied and performed with Gabrielle Roth in NYC for ten years, and has taught 5Rhythms classes and workshops nationally and internationally since 2011.
She hails creatively from the urban dance underground, and the worlds of experimental theater and slam poetry. But dance is her passion, and rewilding is her calling: reawakening our wild nature through a relationship with the natural world.
She has a special interest in accessing dance and the 5Rhythms through connection to wilderness. She cultivated the workshop The Elemental Wave in this spirit, and whenever possible dances like the wind, on the earth, in the water and around the fire.
She sees dance as a return to the land within, and has taken the back-to-the-land journey in her own life, from the urban to the rural, to live more closely with the natural rhythms.
She now lives on a homestead in the elements of rural Northern California where she writes poetry and makes music with On The Perch productions, and cares for a myriad of wild winged creatures.
As a teacher, she offers freedom of expression as permission for your own liberation, in a world that needs people who are awake, alive, rooted, and free.
Join her weekly at River Waves in Petaluma in Monday nights.
