Every change is a journey.

Every movement, at its outset, a mystery.

We humans are beings in motion, outward and inward: air moves in and out of our lungs with each breath; our blood travels around the body every minute. The 5 Rhythms wave reflects those trajectories. We gather information and choose a direction, set out with purpose, pass through challenges, crises, shadows, then lighten up to soar in freedom and arrive, for a time, on new shores. And then the cycle begins again. Let us take that small cosmic journey on the dance floor together.

In this class we will explore the dynamic structure that is the 5Rhythms wave. The wave, discovered by Gabrielle Roth, forms the foundation of the 5Rhythms moving meditation. The wave is made up of five interlacing rhythms: Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness. We will move through these in an investigation of the interplay of rhythm, pattern and wave.  

Energy moves in waves.

Waves move in patterns.

Patterns move in rhythms.

A human being is just that

energy, waves, patterns, rhythms.

Nothing more. Nothing less.

A dance.
