This is a FREE 5Rhythms Workshop on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22 during the Bay Area Dance WeekCome dance with us in celebration of joy and freedom. Dancing the 5Rhythms is a practice—a dynamic way to both workout and to meditate in the same breath. They teach us that life is energy in motion, freeing us from any fixed notions about people, places, objects or ideas. We dance to an eclectic blend of world music, soul, classics, rock, electronica and other music until the dancer disappears and only the dance remains.
The 5Rhythms – Flowing Staccato Chaos Lyrical Stillness® – are states of Being. They are a map to everywhere we want to go, on all planes of consciousness – inner and outer, forward and back, physical, emotional and intellectual. They are markers on the way back to a real self, a vulnerable, wild passionate, instinctive self.
Everybody's welcomed! No experience necessary. We dance barefoot or dance shoes only. Please come ready to sweat, bring your curiosity, a water bottle and your friends. Wheelchair accessible. Please plan to arrive on time.
