Beneath the bustle of busy lives, there is a yearning to slow down and resource. To turn towards ourselves and our relationship with nature, co-creating sacred space for embodied prayer.
In August we will gather by The Black River in Madoc, ON for a midsummer movement sojourn, held in the temple of Forest, Sky, Rock, and River. Supported by 5Rhythms and Continuum practice, we will attune to the primordial rhythms that come from within and journey together into deeper communion with the wilderness within us and around us.
This is the fourth year of the Return Retreat. Each time we return we are not who we were. Returning invites deepening, experiencing from another angle, a different lens. With each return to Mystery, we discover possibilities, the landscape has changed and so have we.
Kim (Continuum), and Layah (5Rhythms), are co-stewards of Black River Farm & Wilderness. They are mother/daughter-in-law creative collaborators, students of each other's work, and midwives of embodiment in their own lineages. Thirty years into their relationship, they are thrilled to invite you to join their first collaborative movement offering.
Black River Farm & Wilderness, situated on 300+ acres of forest and farmland in Madoc Township, Hastings County, is part of our family’s intergenerational collaborative effort to protect land, conserve wild habitat, and honour our relationships with the natural world as integral to our well-being. We are the grateful students and stewards of this land that is part of a growing community of people in the Hamlet of Cooper who are taking action to protect wilderness, regenerate farmland, and learn how to be good stewards for future generations.
Acknowledgment of First Nations Land and People: We honour and acknowledge the Wendake-Nionwentsïo, Mississauga, and Anishinabewaki Nation ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ, on whose traditional and ancestral territories colonization is still being enacted. We strive to learn to recognize our part in the continuation of colonialism, and offer our work in a way that does no further harm. We seek to address ongoing colonial harms by supporting organizations that uplift and centre Indigenous identities, values, cultures, and rights. We invite you to take a moment to find for yourself what acknowledging means to you and how the action of repair lives in you.
