. . . the movement of emotion. Bodies move. Hearts move. In 5Rhythms waves practice, we move with whatever is moving us and moving through us. We are emotional beings and emotions naturally arise; we move with them and we move through them.
In Heartbeat we directly explore the movement of the emotions, how they shape us, how we can transform the movements of the heart into living art and healing. In allowing our emotions to return to their physical dancing roots we can untangle our hearts from the shadowy influence of our head-trips. We can become emotionally fluid and free ourselves from old hurts and old patterns.
All of our emotions have purpose. All of them have form. All of them are fundamentally about love.
It is ecstatic, transformative and profoundly healing work.
This weekend is open to all who have danced at least one weekend 5Rhythms workshop or 30 hours of waves at classes or day workshops**. The emphasis will be on our hearts’ innate capacity to heal when we dance. It draws in part on Chris’s work with people who have experienced long-term wounds as children or adults. Of course, those with idyllic childhoods and easy adulthoods are just as welcome; we are all wounded and we are all our own healers.
Chris Boylan has been studying 5Rhythms since 1999 and teaching since 2008. Originally a toolmaker by trade he has a deeply practical and fun approach to the practice. In the words of a Heartbeat participant, dancing with Chris “feels like we are going to work together at the coal face of enquiry, no bullshit, just getting on with it - I really like this”. He will be assisted by the huge-hearted alchemical artist and 5Rhythms teacher Liz Collier.
