SHAPESHIFTING WORKSHOP WITH SYLVIE MINOT
29 Sep 2023 - 1 Oct 2023
Ubicación: The Dunbar Pavilion, 325 W 2nd Street, Tucson, AZ 85705
Organizer: Kristen Jackson Banister, MA, LPC, SEP
“Stories and legends about shapeshifting, but they do tend to come out of indigenous cultures with strong animistic traditions and cultures where people have lived in such a way that the membrane between the human and the non-human world is very thin. And so, I wonder if they don't also represent a different way of thinking, not just about what's imaginary, but about what's real.” ~ Sharon Blackie
The Sufis believe that there’s a world between the physical world and the intellect. This place is called the imaginal world. They believe that this world is as real as what we see with our eyes. By traveling and connecting to the imaginal, we engage with the deepest levels of life and reality.
In this workshop, we will embody this immersion with the natural world and the animals through the 5Rhythms practice.
We will dance with our animal allies, take in the animal's spirit into our body, and become the magic that moves through all of us. In this, we find our way back to ourselves and each other.
Sylvie Minot received her BA in Dance from San Jose State University and a Master's Degree in Theology in Spirituality and Holistic Health. She is a certified 5Rhythms® Teacher trained by 5Rhythms founder Gabrielle Roth and a Heartbeat teacher.
Sylvie has studied psychology, indigenous healing rituals, energy medicine, and sound healing. The teachings of cultural anthropologist Angeles Arrien, author Caroline Myss, and Peruvian sound healer Tito La Rosa inspire her.
Since 2000, Sylvie has taught weekly dance classes and workshops for various populations. Sylvie is often described as a catalytic shape-shifter because of her ability to meet people right where they are and move with them into new possibilities.
Please note that third-party workshops, class organizers, and producers often offer and manage events that Sylvie Minot is invited to facilitate. In Heartbeat we explore our emotions as energy, as power, as part of being human. Old feelings that have been locked in our limbs or caged in our chest begin to shake loose. We get comfortable with feelings, neither hanging onto them nor pushing them away.
