Art Waves: Bodies in Balance
DESCRIPTION
ART WAVES: BODIES IN BALANCE
at The Rubin Museum of Art
ART WAVES uses the energies of the 5Rhythms to investigate the impact of visual stimuli and how it informs our lives. We invite gentle dancing with our body parts, being inspired by the shapes of the art we witness and sharing what is invoked via a poem or doodle.
The Rubin Museum of Art contains a collection of religious art from the Himalayan mountain range and provides a rich backdrop for deepening our movement and body vocabulary. We’ll explore the exhibit, BODIES IN BALANCE, and see how we can bring our own bodies into greater balance, ease and calm.
The class is open to everyone, regardless of age, shape, size, dancing experience or knowledge of (or interest in!) art; walk-ins welcomed. Given that we will be moving in a museum and among other people, the tone of our rhythm will be gentle, still and reverent, with a dose of fun for good measure!
