Anyone can dance the 5Rhythms®, it just requires a beating heart and a willingness to move.
What you can expect from a 2 hour class:
We begin the class with a warm up, spending time moving how ever you want: stretching, breathing and dancing in a way that feels good for you, in the moment.
Then, you will most probably be guided through a Wave, which is dancing the 5Rhythms® in the same specific order, (flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical, and stillness).
There are no steps to learn and you can't get it wrong. You're invited to explore in your own way the 5Rhythms® and how they want to move and be expressed through your body.
We organise regular dynamic dance meditation classes including 5 Rhythms, Open Floor and Freedom Dance and are interested in other conscious movement and presence practices happening in Cambridge.
Conscious dance is a free form of dance that anyone can do, whatever their age, shape, gender, mobility or fitness level. No prior knowledge is needed, there are no steps to learn and nothing to get right. It allows you to connect your body to the music, and, if you like, to connect with others in non-verbal communication of common movement.
We are a friendly group of people who love to welcome new dancers into our community.
Currently we dance on Friday evenings in St Paul’s Church on Hills Road. Bookings can be made from a week ahead up to the start of the dance, on Bookwhen (all major payment cards accepted, no need to login to book).
Conscious Movement releases & energises the mind, body and uplifts the spirit.
Let go of your mind, let the music move through your body to awaken your heart, find richness and openness in your life.
Bring water to drink; wear something loose and comfortable – layers are best. We dance in bare feet or wearing light soled shoes.
Cambsdance is a strictly alcohol- and drug-free zone; please do not bring any substances on to the premises.
