When I am dancing, it feels like my prayer. It's like an offering. I offer my head back to the dance, I offer my shoulders back to the dance, my elbows, my hands, my spine, my knees, my feet, my whole self, my bones, my blood, my experience, my suffering... I offer it all back to the dance and I say: take it, do whatever you want with me. Release me.

Gateways to Ecstasy: A 5Rhythms Workshop", Jersey, 26th - 28th May 2023

This non-residential workshop is an invitation for you to explore how different parts of your body can support you to access the energetic qualities of each of the 5Rhythms.

Gabrielle Roth called these the ‘gateways’: each Rhythm has a particular gateway and each gateway is associated with a particular body part.

By moving these body parts we are seduced into accessing the Rhythms, and by moving through the 5Rhythms map, we are invited on a journey towards ecstasy.

NOTES

If you have not tried or heard of it before, 5Rhythms is a life affirming practice - it’s basically dance, or maybe it’s better to just say ‘movement’ because a lot of us think we can’t dance but we can all move and if you can move then you are welcome in this practice.

With 5Rhythms there are no steps to follow and there is nothing to get wrong or right - it’s all about you finding your own way of moving to the music. But don’t worry I don’t just turn on the music and say, ‘right now let’s dance’! We follow some easy exercises that encourage us into movement - and it’s all done in a super supportive and non-judgemental atmosphere: no critic, no judge and no analyst!

Friday 26th May 2023, 6.45pm – 8.30pm

Workshop:

Saturday 27th May 2023, 10.30am – 5.30pm

Sunday 28th May 2023, 10.00am – 5.00pm

Cost: £195 for workshop inc. optional class (or £175 if booked by 17th April).

Drop in class (if not booked on workshop): £20 – pay on the door.

All ages (16+), genders, sexualities etc. welcome and no prior experience necessary.

Whilst 5Rhythms is a great cardio work out, it is great for our mental health too. People often feel more balanced, more connected to themselves and others, more clear about what they want and need, and more settled. Worth a try?

Wear lose fitting layers. Dancing barefoot is best or wear shoes with non-marking soles - and you might want to bring a refillable water bottle.

For workshop lunches – please bring food for your own consumption.

Tea and Coffee will be provided.

A Gabrielle Roth 5Rhythms Waves workshop is the foundation of the entire body of 5Rhythms work in which we expand our class work with a deepened physical expression and knowledge of the essential 5Rhythms and their polarities.
