"Movement and music are my medicine. Dance, a door to the divine. A meditation, a mystery, a calling, a prayer, and a guide. "Central Canada Teacher Community
Layah Jane Singer-Wilson
Certified 5Rhythms Teacher
I first fell for the 5Rhythms® in my late teens, and after 15 years of practice, I completed the 2013 5Rhythms® Waves Teacher Training. Delighting in dance since childhood, I have a background in Modern, Ballet, Eurythmy, and Continuum Movement, and I am passionate about offering dancers sacred space to experience music and motion as medicine. Movement mentors include Gabrielle Roth, Lucia Horan, Kathy Altman, Adam Barley, and Kim Brodey. I offer children’s music, art, and creative movement classes and camps, and produce 5Rhythms workshops in Toronto with visiting teachers. I have taught expressive arts and led all-ages dance events in Toronto since 2003. The musical offerings I make are those that rock my own heart, move my soul, and make me sweat, be it a funky groove, a soulful melody, or a big thumping tribal beat. Informed, inspired and nourished by the natural world, ritual, making music, and holistic medicine, off the dance floor I am a Folk/Soul singer/songwriter, a lover of local food and improv cooking, an urban farmer-in-training, an eldest daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, and a hearty lover of life.
