The 5Rhythms practice | A lens for life

With each step

I follow my destiny

through valleys of fear and mountains of excitement.

Empty space opens the doors and offers direction.

Flowing – a magnet for my

own embodiment.

With words and deeds that flow out of my ‘switchboard’

– my heart,

I change things in me and around me.

Each meeting with another has its rhythm, its pace, sometimes it’s a risk to slow down or speed up, come closer or go away.

Staccato – a defibrillator

for my expression.

I didn’t even know I was afraid of falling down the unpredictable depths of the dark and then of light. Because deep down I know that this time, too,

I will find my truth,

and in it my intuition, my pain and in it my freedom.

Chaos – a catalyst for

my changes.

A ray of sunshine behind the cloud, a flower growing out of a crack in the pavement, palms and souls touching as we pass by, beauty expanding in vulnerability, a song I hear for the first time and I’ve known it forever,

feeling that I belong, effortlessly.

Lyrical – champagne of

my innocence.

And at the very end, that which deserves much more attention, like end credits after a film, at the end where the ending

bites the beginning’s tail.

And at the end, that which is probably most important. Stillness – a gong for

my existence.

Home Grown by Kat Worth & the Australia 5Rhythms teacher tribe

Many Feathers, One Wing
together we nurture the 5Rhythms practice, together we fly.

Home Grown was a gathering of 5Rhythms® teachers from around Australia held near Byron Bay this June. This was the first time we have come together as teachers to connect, dance, share, witness and listen to one another. We now have 18 teachers and 7 Sweat SpaceHolders spread across our vast country. What we share in common is holding space for others to dance. Week after week, holding intention and working in such a fluid and dynamic field often leaves one yearning for connection and support.

It can feel like a lonely
road sometimes.

It felt so timely for us to connect as a Teacher Tribe, in solidarity and kinship to strengthen our practice Nationally admist the ever changing and growing landscape of conscious dance practices. The retreat provided a space for us as teachers and SpaceHolders to nurture, nourish, renew and replenish ourselves as well as share work, ideas, challenges and make business decisions. Our theme ‘Unity in Diversity’, prepared the soil for us to hear one another with compassion where we agreed and disagreed. Nothing beats the power of face to face communication.

Sitting in circles together quenched our need for

reconciliation, conversation,
compromise and
heartfelt communication.

Moving and dancing together played such an important role in keeping it real and fluid. The combination was a balance of body, mind and heart engagement.

What a world it could be if all leaders met in this way.

Community is the

next Buddha

– Thich Nhat Hahn

The 5Rhythms community is a 21st century collective unbound by history, culture, race, religion, gender or politics. We are bound by the beat, following our feet on a dancing path to freedom. We are beat-driven, service-oriented, heart-based individuals who come together to embrace our tribal longings.

The measure of a community is its respect for the wisdom of its elders,

the innocence of its children, the passion of its artists, and the hope of its healers.

We are committed to inspiring and serving these roots and wings of community.

IN FLOW…5RHYTHMS + NATURE

By Guillaume Laplane & students in Ibiza – Bali – Morocco – Corsica – Japan – Finland – Iceland

The dance and the nature connect everyone to the essence of being present fully with trust, being centered in the truth of who we realy are, alone, together and in relation with our environnments of living.

I feel everyday how much these moments are so precious to me, building up the reality of living in a world where humanity and conscious connections are happening also, no-matter our origins, body shapes, or life experiences…

PAZ MOV: Dancing on Colombian

“first day without war”

by Carolina Maria Rudas Gomez, Colombia

I began to dance because my body was broken, shattered and sick from war. For more than ten years I worked as a human rights defender in many Colombian war zones, places which most of you have never heard of. Little towns which for the past fifty years were torn apart by forced displacement, massacres, and selective killings, as most rural areas of my country. No one from my generation or younger can even imagine their lives without the armed conflict that has broken down our communities and has polarized and divided our society.

Tired from the war in my country, I got a job with the United Nations in East Timor. The country was at peace when I arrived, but a civil war began six months later. I lived there for three years, supporting thousands of people in need and suffering the war in my own flesh. My house was burned to the ground; my spirit and my hope were turned to ashes. My body felt sick, as did my mind and heart, so I had to resign. I discovered the 5Rhythms in Bali and then I moved to New York. I felt my body once more; my spirit, which had been hiding from the terrors of war, was able to shine again.

I wanted to become a 5Rhythms teacher so more people in my country could move out from the numbness of war. During my training, I worked with various groups of Afro-Colombian forcefully displaced elders in one of the toughest neighborhoods in the city of Cali. They were four hundred people from Chocó, one of the most beautiful, but poorest and most dangerous areas in Colombia, who had been forced to leave their farms and houses. Guided closely by Gabrielle, I began a program of reconciliation through 5Rhythms and art. The feet that were tired of fleeing began to dance again. Their hips, full of violent memories, began to move. They danced their souls and their tears. With their dances they told the horrible stories of when they had to abandon their houses, their farms, their plantain trees, and their animals. Their communities were broken down in the process, but now they could dance again in a tribe.

Two years ago, the Colombian government
entered into peace talks with FARC, the older and biggest guerrilla army...READ MORE

Love Letters to 5Rhythms

Ghost Dance in Rome, Italy & Manchester, UK

Dear Stillness,

what a sorrow not being with you more in the past.

With you I can be present,

I find again the grass, the ocean wave, the trees.

I can be still and watch, and watching, I can flow with the whole.

I regret going far from my slow motion being.

I promise i will take care more of you, I will remember to stop in quietness, in silence, in presence.

I love you and you are the company of my beloved aloneness,

a precious company that I forgot about too often.

This being in stillness is such a beautiful gift.

I love the all 5Rhythms but I neglected you.

I love you ~Emanuelanuela
