GATHER ~ a Ritual In Motion

Victoria - 11 Feb 2023 to 11 Feb 2023
Lorca Simons - Joanne Winstanley

Live Wire is an embodied ritual theatre investigation, grounded in the movement maps of 5Rhythms, devoted to the shapeshifting nature of physical art, and guided by the vision of Lorca Simons and Gabrielle Roth. Designed to inspire, refresh, re-set and connect. Our time will include movement, creative excavations, collective truth-telling and beauty-making.

"When creating Live Wire I wanted to evoke a current of electric shape shifting unpredictability that is both spontaneous and mysterious. To create an experience fueled by many souls hungry for an intimate sliver of the poetic landscape that is at the root and heart of our practice." Lorca

Join us for this day of delivering ourselves back to the artistic nature of the body. Sculpting spirit into shape. Writing soul into story. Dancing mind into the wind, and tracing the heart home.

CYCLES

Victoria - 15 Mar 2023 to 19 Mar 2023
Peter Fodera

Workshop Hours are 11AM- 5PM Daily

Nothing truly dies… all energy simply transforms. We may like to think of our life’s path as being linear but in reality life moves in cycles. So it is with the cycles of our own life.

"Life is a journey. Its route is essentially the same for everyone, even though we start in different settings and with different baggage." Gabrielle Roth

In the Cycles workshop we give ourselves permission to embody this journey with new eyes and understanding. We explore the patterns, waves and vibrations that move us from birth to death – and we attend to sacred tasks and teachings that we may not have marked along the way.

Our journey will be a deep investigation into our personal relationship to the rhythms and rituals, teaching and traditions, the people and places that have formed and informed who we are. From birth into infancy, childhood, adolescence, maturity, elderhood and death, this workshop is an opportunity to update our understandings, to prepare for what's next, and to move with the parts of ourselves and our journey that we wish to honour and explore, as well as those parts we are ready to let go.

I have always loved the Cycles work… maybe it’s the idea of seeing and embodying things anew. Recently, my 100-year-old mother shared a story with me about an incident that had happened to me 70 years ago, and I realized that for all that time I had labored under a misconception. Similarly, talking with my children about their life experiences often results in a deeper understanding of events and perceptions. Nothing is fixed. This was especially true when I suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during class on Valentine’s Day 2020. My death was unexpected and as I was recovering, it was an incredible invitation to ask myself… what’s next?

Coming together to explore the cycles of life gives us the opportunity to see ourselves in each other, to understand and honor our own journey, and to celebrate the thread that connects us all.
