A 5Rhythms & Writing Workshop with Layah & Sasha Singer-Wilson
Emerging from a long winter, the first kiss of spring arrives before the crocuses sprout, and the red maple buds appear. The soil must be tended and cared for in order to welcome future growth and abundance. With devotion and discipline, we return to presence, deepening our capacity to listen to our internal wisdom. Come, clear the hibernation cobwebs, and meet yourself on the dance floor and the page.
In our time together we will weave 5Rhythms with timed writing practice, alternating between the two, seeing how they support and inspire each other, and how the marriage of these practices might reveal what has been germinating through the winter.
5Rhythms is a dynamic movement meditation practice - a workout for body and soul, and a map for awakening and embodying our creative capacity to meet all that life brings. There are no steps to follow in this improvisational movement methodology. Instead, we show up, tune in and move what is alive in us.
Timed writing practice invites us to be students of our creativity. A workout for the imagination and the heart, when we move our pens, we discover where we’re at and what might be getting in our way.

As sisters we have been playmates, companions, and collaborators since before we could talk. Play, song, writing, and dance lit up our childhood. As adults we share an expressive enthusiasm, a fascination with the magic of improvisational art, and a reverent love of creative practice as a transformational and political act. We are thrilled to invite you to join us for "Arise", our first shared workshop offering.
In this workshop, we will dance with our ancestry, which lives in our heart, soul, collective memory, and DNA. We will call on the wisdom and medicine of our lineage, the power of ancestral lands, and the spirit of the animal clans to guide our dance on this journey.
We will beckon our bloodlines and sacred guides to help navigate a magical ancestral journey, weaving the 5Rhythms with our ancestral lineage.
We will acknowledge, give thanks, and embody forgiveness and healing for ourselves, our ancestors, and the land. We’ll honor and celebrate by moving our bones, blood, and bodies - gifts from our ancestors.SCHRIJF JE VANDAAG IN!
