BODY POEM

Santa Cruz - 11 May 2024 to 11 May 2024
Irene Hernandez Sanchez

We are constantly looking for inspiration. In the 5Rhythms, as a technique of dance improvisation and meditation in movement, we use music, the energy of the group, our own breathing, the space that support and surround us…to practice remaining fascinated, attentive and present. The body becomes the pen, the vehicle that writes. The Dance, ephemeral writing on the air that surrounds us. Every step on the dance floor, the deep expression of the soul and heart, to which the judgment does not give time to arrive to sanction its weight and cloister our free expression. What if we added the inspiration of the written word to the dance practice? This idea has been taking shape in my own practice and also in my classes. and courses over the last few years. I love to dance. I love reading. I love writing. What if these two artistic and spiritual forms touch and enhance each other? Come to discover it with me and the Santa Cruz tribe in May! We will share dance, rhythm, sweat, inspiration, words, poems, stories, ritual theater, expression…In a safe space that we will co-create with respect and from the love.

In the workshop we will explore the the physicality of the 5R Waves Level (FLUID, STACCATO, CHAOS, LYRICAL AND STILLNESS). We will also use selected texts to inspire our practice and will warm up the pen by writing for ourselves and the group..,

*No previous experience needed in dance nor writing!! All bodies and pens are welcome*

All are welcome to join. No prior dance or 5Rhythms experience is necessary.

Inner Peace through Stillness
Sat. May 18, 2024
1pm - 7:30pm

Slowing down, connecting with spirit and breath, can lead to a sense of inner peace and contentment. It's a reminder that peace and stillness are always accessible within us, even amid the chaos of life. Stillness serves as a vital component for balancing our overall energy. Knowing when to slow down. If a race-car tries to go 100% around the curves, it’s going to crash. We too crash in different ways when we continue to push ourselves. Slowing down leads to a deeper understanding of oneself and a greater capacity for presence, self-acceptance, and inner peace while keeping our awareness of what's essential and needed.
